It's been awhile hasn't it? Almost two years! I guess the craziness of the past two years has something to do with that, huh? It makes it difficult to write when you are living in a house with a curious baby who loves electronics. My laptop was never safe as long as my nephew was around. Then, when Jon finally found a new job in his field and I was able to write again without interruptions, I had completely forgotten about my blog! Thankfully a conversation with my adorable little sister this morning reminded me that I need to start working on this again. If I can get people to follow me and hold me accountable, maybe I'll get even better as a writer!
So, to update on what I've been working on (or changes in my life) since I posted last:
1.) Eyes on Fire (like a crazy person!!) - I've actually written close to 80,000 words on it since I decided to make it a priority. The really crazy thing? This is 80,000 words worth of scenes, not even a put together book! I seem to write better when I'm not trying to go from point A to point B.
2.) I finished "Failure" a fan fiction that I started around the time I got married (almost 5 years ago!). For some reason last summer I just got in a groove and started pounding it out. Before I knew it I had a 56,000 word novella and I had finished a story that meant a lot to me. It took some serious editing, but right now I'm at about 200 reviews on one site and 120 on another. It's probably not the best story I've ever written, but it is definitely one that I am very proud of.
3.) NaNoWriMo! Not only have I won 3 camp sessions since 2012 (including both sessions from last summer), I also won November NaNo in 2012 and 2013. I've been on a roll! I've written short stories, fanfiction, Eyes on Fire scenes and I even tried my hand at a Christmas romance... it didn't pan out well. All in all, I've been kicking butt and taking names. I even made a few new writing friends in Cabins and on the forums. Yay for writing friends!
4.) Shared my writing - Now, this might not seem like a big deal to the rest of you, but sharing Wolf and my Eyes on Fire tidbits was a huge leap for me. This is the first time I have willingly shared my original fiction since I was in High School, working on a really cheesy/terrible Historical Romance called "Destiny." The fact that I was able to share Wolf with anyone was a huge leap for me, since I honestly believed that I was going to keep it entirely to myself forever. Now, I've shared it with six people and though that may not sound like much, it's HUGE for me. That is six more people than I ever intended to see it, ever. Eyes on Fire was easier to share and so far my little brother (and biggest fan of the series) has been an enormous help to me. I'm finally realizing why it's a good idea to have a circle of people that read your stuff before you publish it.
Non writing stuff!!
5.) My family has grown- Not only is my little nephew turning two on Monday, my brother and his wife had a little girl last July. And then, Jon's sister-in-law had a little boy in October! So Jon and I are now the proud aunt and uncle of two adorable little boys and two adorable little girls. We are so blessed!
So that is what has been happening in my life since April of 2012. Probably doesn't seem like much to most of you, but it has been an amazing two years for me. I also have some big goals for 2013... but I'll save that for tomorrow.

Writing Again
So, after two months of inactivity, I've finally begun my daily writing goal again. This is due to the fact that Camp NaNo is coming up and I really don't want to miss out on all the fun activities. My writing may not be very good yet, but after a long break I'm a bit rusty. Wish me luck as I buckle down and continue on my journey of writing discovery!

A Curve Ball
So, I'm sure you've noticed that I haven't posted at all in the last two months. This is due to the fact that in February my husband and I with busy with several holidays and celebrations (including his 26th Birthday and our 3rd Anniversary). I did continue to write daily though in February. Of course, March was a different story. My husband came home early one day in March and told me that he had lost his job. Since Texas is a "Right to Work" State, we never found out why he was let go. Fortunately for us, our apartment lease was just about up and a few family members were able to come and help us move in with them for a little while. Understandably, I wasn't feeling very creative in March.
I'm going to try my best to catch up and get back on schedule though. My hubby and I are currently doing Script Frenzy and I'm hoping that will get my creative juices pumping again. After all, I have less than two months to figure out what I'm doing for Camp NaNoWriMo now!

Same Goals
Well, since I was able to achieve my goals so well last week, I have no reason to change them this week. I ended up writing three new short stories for "Eyes on Fire" and even though my daily prompts have been uninspiring I have been able to write every single day. If you've seen my word count bar at the side of the blog, I have reached over 20k so far which is just above what I should be at. Anyway, things are good but I'm still looking for other creative pursuits. Does anyone have any ideas?

Goals for February
Hello out there! It's finally time for me to start doing goals again! I'll do weekly and monthly goals from now on, so I guess I'll start with my weekly goals. My priorities may have changed a bit, mostly because of the trip I just had to visit my family. I learned quite a bit about myself and my writing by talking to my younger sister and brother and I think before I start a big new project (Child of Three) I should finish a certain other project first. I will still be writing a script of "Child of Three" for Script frenzy though, so the project hasn't fallen completely by the wayside. I just might have something else worth finishing first.
Goals for week of 2-1/2-5
1.) Continue to write at least 500 words a day (try harder not to miss days)
2.) Go through my short stories written so far and decide what will do well on deviant art
3.) On days where my daily prompt is uninspiring, work on short scenes for "Child of Three" or "Eyes on Fire"
4.) Find other creative things to do to fill up the rest of my days
Goals for February
1.) Write a 500+ word story everyday
2.) Start working on an outline for "Child of Three" for ScriptFrenzy
3.) Re-Read "Wolf" and start making edits
4.) Find friends willing to read "Wolf" who will critique both story and grammar
5.) Try to promote this blog more
I think that is it for now, but if I come up with anything else I will add it. Have a great day everyone!

Back at Home
It really is one of the most wonderful feelings in the world to be back home, working productively and spending time with my husband. I've been attempting to settle back in after three weeks away and so far I've been successful. I just wish my brain would kick it into gear and let me write as much as I want to.
Tomorrow I will be back to work, updating my goals and deciding what I want/need to do with my week, month and year. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with what I need to do. Possibly I'll even post bits of my daily stories here, it just depends on how good I feel they turned out and whether or not they are appropriate to share. My mind is a much darker place than I originally imagined.
Anyway, until tomorrow.

Back to normal soon
Just a quick little update on how I've been doing with my goals since last time.
While I am still on par for my 500 words a day goal, it has been a little tricky while I've been visiting family. Some days I don't get any writing done at all, but I have been attempting to keep up by writing extra on the days that I do have time. I have to admit that with the prompts I have been using, I feel like I have really grown as a writer. Never before would I have thought to write a scene with a hung jury, or a girl becoming a hooker to survive. It has opened my eyes to a lot of things and made me realize that I have many more stories to tell than I originally thought.
With that said, I can't wait to get back home to Austin where I have nothing but time on my hands (and a husband to cheer me on). I still really feel that this is going to be a great year.
Oh! And my new nephew is absolutely the most beautiful child I have ever seen! I don't think I've been able to cuddle him enough.
